So for one of these the scale isn't given (yes, I know we can all work it out but that's not the point), and the very pretty one is 1/27. How many people collect 1/27 scale? A slightly obscure and annoying choice.

As these are 3D printed, I believe you can use the data to have them made at any scale you choose.

The printed-for-you MoreThan3D Dragon-MS is 1/27, which I believe is a common scale for diecast automobiles.

Diecast car models are typically 1/24 scale, rather than 1/27. My best guess is that the rather odd-ball 1/27 scale probably was the largest that would print within the build volume of the printer being used.

I received my Crew Dragon model from MoreThan3D. It's really fabulous. The trunk and crew section attach with four strong magnets. Very unique design.

Great looking model! Was this the version where they did the printing for you? If so, did it come totally complete inclusive of being painted or was there work you needed to do to it (e.g., assembly or paint)?

There was VERY minimal work - attaching the soft docking mechanism and removing the tape from the rotating seats, etc. I ordered it fully built. You can order it requiring building if you want. The directions to make the minimal jobs are really well written.

I just wanted to echo some of the comments regarding the MoreThan3D version of this spacecraft. I ordered a fully complete version of the model and it is truly amazing looking. The forward docking mechanisms are detailed and accurate.

If you are interested in one I would highly recommend it. I was very pleased with the quality, the communication and the delivery!

In honor of SpaceX recently returning astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley back from the International Space Station, I thought this would be a good time to look into a Crew Dragon Spacecraft for my collection. Luckily I came across this website designed by An Duong, a pretty large Dragon 2 spacecraft that's 3D printed. I was actually pretty impressed at the level of detailed and how everything pieced together properly (the amazing technology of 3D printing).

If you watch their video, it's actually pretty functional where the main hatch, you also have a "secret compartment" in the trunk (you can hide your keys in there). The interior has four fully adjustable seats that can incline/recline, adjustable entry door and soft capture system, etc.

Overall dimensions: trunk diameter (without fins): 130mm
Height (from top of the nose cone to the bottom of the trunk): 290mm

I love their use of magnets: for example it holds together the Dragon 2 spacecraft and the bottom trunk, in addition it holds together a lot of main parts such as the entry door, the secret compartment, etc. Overall I'm pretty happy to have this historic model in my collection, here's some pictures:

This is what is looks like when displayed on their stand, the pilot figures if you choose to get them have to be painted. In additions the logos and such are stickers and their website can also tell you how to get them:

This is interesting. Although SpaceX has released a few desktop models the amount of 3D printed models seems to be a lot more than they offered.

Elon will make and sell a flamethrower but not offer high end models?

There's a bunch of 3D printed models available on eBay in a lot of scales and configurations but none of these are made using SpaceX data or licensing.

Some of these models are fantastic. I bought a 1/72nd stack with a Dragon and a fairing. Good quality, decals ok, but for only $99 I dont see how the seller is making any money.

It's cool to see the start of 3D models being almost mainstream. I think for collectors now it might not be as important to be a licensed product as much as a model made by a particular artist.

Oli Braun is making some beauties and if a builder like Pascal did one or a run of them I'd certainly see the added value in getting one from him and the other artists here.
